Let’s be honest, there is so much negativity around us. Watching the news, logging in to Instagram or even just opening your WhatsApp can be pretty difficult these days. Constant updates about the ongoing pandemic along with global news updates can cause serious distress and anxiety, leaving you feeling vulnerable. The rising number of individuals struggling with mental health has been exacerbated by the lock-downs and uncertainty.
We need to take the time to address these feelings as they are completely justified!

1) PAUSE: Breathe & Reflect
Have you tried yoga?
Have you looked into meditation?
How about listening to calming music?
2) Set and KEEP a healthy routine
Plan a healthy diet and a good sleeping cycle
Be realistic in setting a routine.
Don’t overly plan but do not forget that setting that alarm clock is so important
3) Get fresh air and exercise
There is absolutely no substitute for fresh air and movement! Doing some exercise is great for both your physic as well as your mental health. Working out increases blood flow and releases endorphins that can improve your mood and give you a refreshing pick me up. A brisk walk in the fresh air can help clear your mind and give you some me time while still maintain social distancing protocols.
4) Reward yourself for the small wins
We deserve the rewards too! Indeed, this keeps it all exciting. Maybe you can even set your goals and set the rewards at the same time 🙂
5) CONNECT with others
Everyone is going through something difficult right now! You are not alone! Message your friends or family members you haven’t spoken to in a while, reconnect with old friends and check up on each other. Vocalize your frustrations and thoughts with others. However, don’t forget to maintain a balance between talking about stressful situations along with some positive things that you’re doing! Keeping a balance is not easyyyyyyy.
6) BE KIND to yourself and others
Our current times are not “normal” circumstances. Then again, what is even considered normal these days? In this entire chaos, we can’t forget to love ourselves. We must be kind to our bodies & our minds. Stop ALL the negative comments you say to yourself!
7) Do not be scared to REACH OUT for help if you need it.
We live in an age where technology knows no bounds. But, this can also help us! There is a variety of platforms of communication available to help us. Do a quick Google search and get the help you need and deserve! There are tons of “help hotlines” available in all cities.
