DIY Quarantine Spa
Dolls! We have got you covered
Staying Home is no reason to avoid pampering yourself. In fact, it’s the perfect excuse to execute all those DIY Spa nights featured in every early 2000s Hollywood teen sleepover movie!
Let’s be honest, we all need some extra love and self-care right now. So, here is what we recommend:
1. Lip and body sugar scrub
A sugar body scrub is a great economic and effective way to exfoliate and dead skin and build up oil and encourage blood circulation. Sugar scrubs are gentle on your skin and can easily be made by eco-friendly and organic ingredients sitting in your pantry right now!
Brown sugar or White sugar: brown sugar has smaller grains and is more suitable for sensitive skin and gentle exfoliation. This is perfect for the delicate skin on your lips. Alternatively, white sugar works perfectly well in exfoliating your skin. Keep in mind, the size of the granules will determine the level of exfoliation.
An oil of your choice: olive oil is great for dry skin that may be irritated and requires moisture. Coconut oil is also effective in moisturizing and contains some antibacterial properties. There are a plethora of different oils to pick from that will suit what your skin is craving.
Optional: a squeeze of lemon juice for the smell.
The beauty of this recipe is you can adjust the ingredients based on what you need. On average a single-use will require about 1 cup of sugar and between 3-6 tablespoons of your selected oil depending on the consistency, you desire.
Finally, store any remaining scrub in a container in a dry area and reuse it for up to 3 weeks.
2. Light a scented candle or some essential oils to set the mood
Stimulate all your senses by replicating a soothing spa-like aroma in your house. We recommend some aromatherapy candles or essential oils like lavender or lemongrass for the greatest effect.
3. Aloe vera ice cubes
If you’ve got some fresh aloe growing in your garden or find some at your local grocery store this one’s life-changing! Take out the fresh aloe vera pulp and mash it up and transfer it into an ice tray. Alternatively, you can use some ready-made bottled aloe vera gel. Store it in the freezer until solid. Once set, pick out a cube and apply it all over your face. Aloe vera has natural healing properties for your skin and will help you achieve that flawless skin look. Simultaneously, the cooling effect will soothe your skin and relieve any puffiness or redness on your skin. Wash off the residue after 15 minutes or when dry.
